Profitable Email Marketing - Intro

Robert Cooper, PlusROI Online Marketing Inc.

Is e-mail marketing the same as Spam?

Hmm, you’re probably well aware that everybody hates spam. However, a report by Forrester Research showed that permission e-mail is actually trusted more than newspapers and magazines. While the spam issue is a huge one, smart companies have been putting large sums of money in the bank by launching and optimizing their e-mail marketing programs. In fact, almost without exception, a well run e-mail marketing program is the highest ROI marketing activity a company can embark on.

Guess what? Even the smallest of businesses can launch an e-mail marketing program that will get new customers, generate more revenues from existing customers and build unbelievable customer trust and loyalty. Ironically, smaller businesses are probably much closer to their customers and thus much better equipped than their bigger competitors. Add this to the fact that so many companies do e-mail marketing as an afterthought and you’ll find that your smaller company compete with the big guys if you’re willing to put some thought into it.

E-mail marketing is easy. Well, that’s a lie, but there is no single aspect about it that’s too complicated for you to grasp and work to your advantage if you’ve got the will.

There are only 3 things you need to grasp to effectively use e-mail marketing:

  1. You must understand your customers and care about them.

  2. You must apply common sense and forget about any mystical marketing BS.

  3. You must make the commitment to do the right thing and exercise the discipline to get it done.

There are a few more details than that, but hey, that’s all they are: details. Read on as we discuss the main areas you want to think about. Also, as we work through, we’ll look at a real-life example of how a business that’s not currently doing e-mail marketing might want to kick off their efforts.
